  • Common names: Sweet Potato Bug, Large spine-footed bug
  • Distribution: Asia, Africa, Pacific Islands.
  • Image locations: Chaiyaphum, Chiang Mai
  • Hosts: Ipomoea batatas (Sweet potato), Convolvulaceae (Bindweed, Morning glory), Fabaceae ( legume, pea, bean). Gigantochloa hasskarliana, Thyrsostachys oliveri, Thyrsostachys siamensis, Bambusa arundinacea, Bambusa nana, ​Dendrocalamus latiflorus, Dendrocalamus strictus.
  • Additional notes: Female Physomerus grossipes are known to be protective of their eggs and young, guarding them from predators.
