The Cossidae, the cossid millers or carpenter millers, make up a family of mostly large miller moths. This family contains over 110 genera with almost 700 known species, and many more species await description. Carpenter millers are nocturnal Lepidoptera found worldwide, except the Southeast Asian subfamily Ratardinae, which is mostly active during the day. Wikipedia
Family: Cossidae Leach, 1815 - Cossid millers or Carpenter millers
Genera: Lakshmia, Xyleutes, Zeuzera
Family: Metarbelidae Strand, 1909 - Old World Goat Moths
This family was treated by Roepke (1957) as the Squamuridae or as a subfamily, Squamurinae, of the Cossidae. However, it is clear from Fletcher & Nye (1982) that the name Metarbelidae of Strand has priority. Fletcher & Nye did not include Squamuridae as a synonym but it must certainly be included as such. The family is known from the Oriental and Afrotropical Regions, being most diverse in the latter; a few New World taxa are also attributed. Moths of Borneo
